How Many Lymphatic Massages Do I Need After Cosmetic Surgery?

Your 4 best friends after cosmetic surgery are going to be water, movement, compression, and massages. But how many massages do you really need?

In the first 6 weeks post-op it is recommended to come 2-3 times per week. This is when pain and swelling will be at it’s peak. You want these sessions spaced out 48 hours so that the fluid has a chance to drain between sessions. It’s always advised to book out your appointments in advance as availability varies and you typically want to be on a weekly schedule of M-W-F/T-TH or some variation of that.

After 6 weeks you can typically move into 1-2 sessions per week and continue to titrate down from there. Everyone’s healing process is different and we make recommendations on a case by case basis with clients, but if you’re looking into getting cosmetic surgery it’s important to budget and plan for these massage sessions!

Lymphatic Massages are important for managing swelling, pain, improving contour, and improving overall aesthetic results. Studies show that with Lymphatic Massages you will heal in 1/6th of the time than without MLD!
